Retail escalators and travellators often operate for long hours, and an unplanned shutdown can affect customer access, tenant movement and the presentation of the entire site. HEC supports shopping centres, supermarkets and multi-site retail operators with planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, corrective repairs, deep cleaning, modernisation and handrail replacement.
In-House Handrail Capability
HEC prepares replacement escalator and travellator handrails using dedicated in-house equipment. The complete system is assessed, including the handrail drive, pressure rollers, guides, tracks, tensioning arrangement and newel rollers. Controlling the preparation and installation as one service helps us coordinate the work and protect the replacement handrail from avoidable premature wear.
Planning Work Around Public Access
For retail and public-access sites, the engineering work is only one part of the plan. HEC also considers passenger flow, safe work areas, access arrangements, operating hours and the sequence of work across multiple units.
